Many women experience some changes in their bodies after pregnancy.
The objective of a mommy makeover procedure is to restore the shape and appearance of the body in women who have fulfilled their reproductive desires. A mommy makeover is performed as a single-stage procedure and it commonly includes:
- Tummy tuck (abdominoplasty): to remove loose skin and restore weakened muscles in the abdomen.
- Breast augmentation or breast lift: to address breasts that have deflated or sagged.
- Liposuction: slims and reshapes specific areas of the body by removing excess fat deposits and improving the body contours.
- Buttock augmentation: fat grafting to increase the size and improve the shape of the buttocks.
A mommy makeover is a highly individualized procedure.
A complete medical evaluation is necessary to assess the patient’s state of health and determine whether she is a candidate for a single-stage procedure.
Mommy makeover candidates:
Women who are finished with child-bearing.
Women who are in good medical health, at their ideal body weight or slightly above.
Women who have realistic expectations.
No candidates for mommy makeover:
Women who have unrealistic expectations
Women who smoke and who are not able to stop smoking for 3 months (six weeks before surgery and six weeks after surgery). Chemicals from smoking may cause healing complications.
Recovery time
It is necessary to have about 2 weeks of relative rest. This means that bed rest is not necessary. But it is recommended to stay at home and avoid strenuous activities.
Having a supportive friend or relative is needed for care at home the first week after surgery.
